What is a webloID?

A webloID is a unique identifier associated with an account you can create on Weblopedia. It offers a simple way for people to contact you using SquidCam. Setting up a webloID is easy. Users that have a dynamic IP address or even use multiple NAT devices will be able to establish connections using the upcoming release of SquidCam and a webloID.

A webloID can be your name, the name of your business, or anything else you choose.

How do I create a webloID?

Only two steps are required to create a webloID:

Account creation consists of some basic requirements (e.g. valid e-mail address) and the need to choose a unique webloID.

How do I use a webloID with SquidCam?

First, you must add the necessary Weblopedia account information into SquidCam:

  • Launch SquidCam
  • Enter the 'Preferences'
  • Select the 'Server' pane
  • Enter your Weblopedia account username and password
  • Make sure the 'Weblopedia auto-update' checkbox has a checkmark; it must be active
Please note: you should not share your login information with anyone

Now that you have entered the information, you can receive a call. To receive a call:

  • Send your webloID to each person from whom you wish to receive a call
  • Launch SquidCam and wait for a call

If you wish to call someone using SquidCam:

  • Obtain the person's webloID
  • Launch SquidCam
  • Select the 'Connect...' menu option
  • Enter the webloID in the address field.
  • Click on the Connect button
